Some areas of rain for central and southeast Scotland from dawn, also locally some rain near the south coast. Otherwise a dry and bright start for central England and Wales. Clouds will bubble up during the daytime, bringing an increasing risk of showers into the afternoon, later becoming scattered thundery downpours moving around slowly under light winds. Some more persistent rain in the southeast, heavy at times. Many coasts dry and sunnier than inland in afternoon. Highs 13 to 18C.

Monday night
Remnants of daytime showers will continue into the evening and first part of the night, tending to fade. Local patches of rain may continue through the night under variable cloud in the north, also locally in the far southeast of England. Generally dry for central England and Wales. Some mist patches forming. Winds mostly light. Temperatures dipping to lows of 6 to 9C, locally cooler in rural spots of Wales and the Scottish Highlands.

Tuesday
High pressure starts to expand in from the southwest, but there's a risk of some scattered showers again bubbling up during the day. Some patchy rain, drizzle and low cloud early in the day across northern areas. Greatest risk of heavier afternoon showers in central and western areas. Light north to northeasterly breezes. Cool in the northeast, barely 10C on the coast here. Highs up to 17C central England.

Wednesday
High pressure across the British Isles brings plenty of dry and bright weather for most places. Early mist patches soon clearing. Variable cloud and sunshine, best near to coasts by the afternoon. Fronts grazing the far northwest may bring some patchy rain to western Scotland and Northern Ireland with a fresher southwesterly breeze here. Highs 14 to 19C, pleasantly warm.
