Cool with sunny spells and scattered showers but much dry weather, then more unsettled later

A cool week ahead with sunny spells and scattered showers at first. However, the showers turning heavy and more thundery later as we slip slowly into a more mixed or unsettled, yet milder, weekend.

Thursday 25/4/24
More cloud on Thursday in a slack pressure flow. There could be a few spots of rain in northern and eastern England as well as eastern Scotland. More persistent rain arriving in western Ireland later. Elsewhere it will be dry with broken cloud and a few bright spells. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 12C in central and western areas.


 

Friday 26/3/24
Low pressure over the British Isles on Friday. Some showers here and there, mostly in the north and east with some developing in the south, becoming heavy at times. Drier areas too with broken cloud and sunny spells. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 13C in sunny spells.


 

Saturday 27/4/24
Low pressure is centred over France on Saturday. A risk of heavy and thundery rain in the south of England and Wales. Some showers in eastern Scotland and England, isolated showers in western parts. Sunny spells between those showers. Highs at 11 to 16C but colder on eastern coasts.


 

Sunday 28/4/24
Low pressure remains on Sunday, drifting north through the British Isles. Periods of heavy and thundery rain for some, perhaps more showery in the west. Perhaps breezy. Highs at 10 to 16C.



 
 
 

Monday 29/4/24
Low pressure west of Ireland on Monday bringing the threat of some rain here. Elsewhere sunny spells and showers, most in the north and west. Highs at 11 to 15C.

Tuesday 30/4/24
Uncertainty in the forecast for Tuesday. Rain may affect western and southern areas, but drier and brighter in the north and east. Highs at 12 to 16C.
